Let me explain what this is all about.

I am a composer seeking superior creative projects, commissions and exciting collaborations with talented people. Through this I hope to boost my own profile and gain new experience and expertise from the process.

This website is named after the studios in my home where I work, and, although I am involved in a few musical projects that are promoted online, this site is dedicated solely to my compositions and development as a writer of music.

To avoid any confusion I am going to state this at the front page: the studio is not available for hire, but I am! The kind of work I’m looking for specifically is the exciting and challenging sort that will allow me to stretch my capabilities and flex those creative muscles. I have been studying and teaching composition for many years now and there is still so much I wish to learn. Commissions from professional ensembles are most welcome, as are requests for incidental music and soundtracks for film/TV. Or, if you just have a wicked crazy idea that could involve my music, I’m open to those possibilities. String and choral arrangements are a specialty.

My instrument of choice is piano and I have been fortunate enough to have studied composition under Dr Philip Bracanin at the University of QLD, Australia. As a student there I won the Gold Coast Composition Competition for my age group two years in a row, and in 1998 was accepted on the Young Composers Program (in association with the ABC) working with QSO resident composer Nigel Sabin. As a result of attending this program my first symphonic poem was premiered by a selection of players from Queensland Symphony Orchestra and broadcast on national radio (ABC Classic FM).

Today I lecture in music technology, music theory and composition context at Bedford College and the University of Bedfordshire. I am also completing my PhD in Music Composition at the University of QLD, working with Dr. Robert Davidson. My favourite composers include Shostakovich, Gorecki, Tavener, Fitkin and Philip Glass and my favourite pop artists are David Bowie, Bjork, Morrissey and The Flaming Lips. One important goal of mine is to finish my first symphony by the time I’m 35.
